Am I biased?

I'm a Microtech fan. Always have been. Especially the Socom Elite. My favorite. I've got 2 manuals, and 2 autos. I never, ever, even considered the Socom Bravo, simply because of its Chinese manufacturing/Affiliation with Rikeknife, a Chinese company. (disclaimer: I have no personal bias towards the Chinese people, just the Government). That said, one night after one too many Martinis, I bought a Bravo from a seller here. Just because so many people seem to love them, I wanted to see what all the hub bub was about. Fully expecting to end up selling it after seeing one in person.

However, from the moment I picked it up, it screamed quality. It felt just as solid and precision as my other Elites, LUDT's, ProTech's, Sebenza's or any other precision engineered object. It also had a slightly better "hand feel" then an Elite - just feels good in the hand. (keep it clean people)

So much so that I just ordered a tanto from Microtech direct. So, just to say for anyone who may feel the same way, try it, you'll like it. It's a very solid, high quality knife. Needs to be black though. Maybe a little DLC on the handle. Bet that would look nice...

Eh, everybody is biased about something, whether it’s what knife they buy, what cut of steak they like, or what vodka they prefer in their martini. Ya can’t help it, it’s all a matter of the conglomeration of all your particular life experiences. People have good and unfortunately bad experiences with and influences about everything. It’s nice when you find out that things - and people - aren’t as bad as you were lead to believe. Not trying to be preachy, because I’m a creature of habit to a fault myself. For example, I will only buy Jif peanut butter and white bread. Don’t care who likes Skippy. Don’t care if whole wheat is healthier, goddammit, I don’t like it with my Jif. But one of these days I will buy something other than a Kershaw knife.😁

People rarely agree with governments. If people applied that concept everywhere then even some people wouldn't order US knives. But your purchase still supported a US company and retailer so it all depends on how you look at it.

Good on you for branching out!

Microtech seems to be a great company. If they are affiliated with a Chinese company then I expect they would be happy with the product and not jeopardize their name on it. I always look for a Socom Elite but they sell so fast on this site that they are hard to buy. That is a nice looking knife you bought. Enjoy it!

Microtech is a US company using a Chinese manufacturer. They aren’t a chinese company stealing US IP.

I like how the bravo looks compared to the elites.

Still don't think I'd buy one though.

I almost ordered the tanto but it didn't appear that the tip was really any stronger than the normal grind. Once you get yours maybe you can compare them.

Peter Pan PB for the win

I'm a big Microtech fan as well. I have.. too many, including some of the stupid ones. The Bravos are absolutely top-notch knives. Just very, very nice, both the design and the fit and finish.

I want a mini- version.

(Not going to touch the place of origin issue, people think what people think.)

I'm a big Microtech fan as well, but I am also a Rike Knife fan. Richard Wu is the founder of Rike and is a knife enthusiast. Rike has become masters of CNC knife production, especially integrals. Some of their designs are not for everyone, but are quality products, nonetheless.

What are you, a choosy mom? LOL

Realtalk: Jif's my brand too, crunchy for me, please!!

Secondly, many folks have seen my comments on Chinese knives, whelp, I brought a Bravo home from the show. It is a superb and superbly made knife, and I'm glad to own it.

I have a Bravo and enjoy it’s quality and aesthetics. I do feel however it’s a bit uncomfortable (hot spots) when firmly grasped. Just me maybe.

TL,DR; Jif FTW

I bought the Bravo, very pleased with it. My grandson 1/2 Chinese was made in China, born in Tennessee.

Understand, I don't have any problem with the Chinese people (or any people for that matter, unless they give me a reason to...) It's the Chinese Government I have the problem with. And anything manufacturing in China ends up lining the coffers of that same Government.

The knife however, is a fine piece of engineering. Now that I put my paws on the first one and saw that for myself, number two just arrived in the brown truck today. And I like it even more without the blue!
