Well I want a zt 0200 BAD. However, I want to send it to rival as soon as I get it so I can't spend a lot on it. Is it unreasonable for me to try getting one (could be a blem) for my like new black kershaw shallot and say, $50?

I'm not really following this

Could you get one for around 100 bucks? Maybe if it was a blem and used. I think your best bet is to sell the Shallot out right, then combine the funds from the Shallot and the $50.00. Pool your money and you'll be on your way to owning a 0200.

I am going to spend a good chunk of change on the pimp job, so I can't spend a ton on the knife. If I get one with a few scratches on the blade it's fine as I will get it acid etched and stonewashed.

Ah gotcha. I'm following now, wasnt familiar with Rival.

Check around for blems, used, or as he said, in the exhange. Prolly your best bet. I wouldnt get a new one if I were going to remove the coating anyways.

Who is Rival? Does he do custom mods on knives or something?

Not trying to be funny or rude at all, but are you joking? If not search the forums and you can find a lot of his scale work. Absolutely awesome scales. He is also starting to do some other work such as stone washing blades. Very nice guy. You should really check out his work.

Yeah he does amazing work! I'm going to get orange tiger scales made, and have the liner and blade acid etched and heavy stonewashed. Not cheap, but beautiful work. I'm getting bummed out looking for a deal! I know some people buy it and realize it's top heavy for them, so I am hoping to find one of those people to sell me theirs lol.

Keep checking the bay, but it's almost impossible to find a deal on there anymore. Everyone tries to squeeze every last penny out of an items worth. I see the same items at antique malls around here - items for sale that were in the same booth 3 YEARS ago lol - Yes, and they pay just like on ebay to list their items.

Either someone is paying way too much for items or they constantly re-list. Oh well.

What price are you wanting to pay? I'll keep my eye out for an 0200 on the cheap.

Like 85 for a new blem? Or a used one in good condition. It can't be too beat up...

Hmm, you're gonna have to find someone on here who got one from Kershawguy Dave. He had them for cheap but is sold out IIRC. There seem to be a lot of friendly people on here. Maybe you'll get lucky and someone will offer theirs up (so they can get a new knife). I'll keep an eye out too. I think $85 is going to be tough unless it's well used. Never hurts to try, tho - Let you know if I find something.

Thanks! Maybe if I offer a trade off the shallot and a blue smoked leek that is basically nib...

The bay is a good place to keep an eye on. Just be careful. I saw a "ZT 200 cheap" on there the other day that I'm fairly certain was a fake. Just a few things that made me look twice. Personally I would rather give Dave a little bit more just because of the peace of mind you get from ordering with him. Plus he's a great guy and always stands behind his products.

Yup...these days most alternatives are better than an unfamiliar seller on the Bay. Holds true for most things from speakers to computer parts, not just knives IMHO.
