Let me ask you this, and be honest. Am I the only one who thinks that, when powdered, ivory micarta smells like peanut brittle? I've noticed this for some time but never asked anyone else about it.
Also, I'm working with maroon linen micarta for the first time and can't help but think that it smells just a little bit like raspberries. I know this sounds way too wierd to be true but I smell these things pretty clearly. Anyone else?

Maybe it's a form of synesthesia? Your brain is adding a smell to something you're seeing and handling.

Micarta just smells like Micarta to me, but bloodwood smells like chocolate when you're grinding it...weird.

Try smelling irises - yellow smells like lemons, purple smells like grapes.
My beagle Sherman taught me that. He used to smell them before he ate them.

Unfortunately, yes, you are crazy, Hesparus. Just joking! Maybe a little wacky, but knife making will do that to you. Just look at IG,........................ .
