I'm thinking about buying this (March 1st) and cutting a wave into it.

It's a Warhog (circa 2000) by Andre DeVilliers. I'll grind down the top to the grind line (stopping at the flat) and then use the thumbstud hole for the location of the cutout. I won't be doing this by myself. I'll more than likely take it to Don Maxwell, he lives a few miles from me.

Also have it drilled and tapped for tip up :D

Maybe I should buy a ZT300 to perfect my hack on instead. Wave it, remove the assist, smooth up the scales, straighten out the recurve... Eh?

I see this as two separate issues...
1. "Am I crazy?" Do a self-assessment.
They say 2 out of three people are so if you look at two of your friends and decide that neither of them are crazy, that only leaves you! :D
2. Mod-ing the knife. Why not?
It's just a tool. Why not make it a personal tool? Personally, I don't like the wave but it's not MY knife. If you like it, and don't mind changing the design of this knife, have a ball! I'm sure it will turn out just the way you'd like and you'll have a personalized, one-of-kind tool to use!

if you have money to blow, why not grind away its value. Who cares. Then again, why not just order a custom knife with the features you want.

I think I'm going to take your advice,Rat. My next project will be a waved ZT300 CC.

BTW, what's a Talon? Gotta pic?

You'r as mad as box of frogs

Why not try making a wave add on that you can put inplace of the thumb stud ?

Talking of ZT300s heres one I molested

well maybe you had a little too much sugar that day or you took like 5 extra strength excedrrrriiiin. (oops I took a little to many of those myself today). So maybe your just thinking nuts but not exactly entirely crazy. But Close. Take deep breaths and ponder a quiet beach before you tear that knife to shreds

haze, thats a good idea for the add on. i have access to a mill and that would be a fun project to play with.

Its something I thought about doing but just never got round to putting the shop time in.

I'll see if I can dig up my old drawings, you might find them usefull if you want to give it a try

Have fun drilling through s30v at that RC.

Haze, that looks sweet. All you need to do is smooth up the checkering on both scales.

I was going to do a new G-10 scale but decided I quite like the texturing so I just kept the original one and went with a satin finish on the Ti side.

That's what I'd do. Surely a maker here on BF could make what you'd want.

I satisfy my urge to mess with cutters by modding & generally mauling my cheapie knives, like S&W, Gerber, etc. from the local flea markets. I leave my nice ones alone. The one you've pictured is just too nice to mess with, IMO.

thx - cpr
