Am I cured, sick, in remission, or just lost?

I have settled BACK on my original do-all, be-all, end-all, tactical, one hand, utility, EDC, sheeple friendly, black, universal WONDER knife, the ole Victorinox One Hand Trekker.

And a STOCK ONE also (well a BIT modified with a clip added) But I have even ditched the OHT that I removed the serrations from and reprofiled the blade.

I have gone thru the "better steel" "better lock" "ultra sharp" "EZ open" long, short, serrated and Damascus.

And am now back to Rc56 and an easy to sharpen blade with a toothpick and a saw and tweezers and screwdrivers and can opener.

And.....I think I ...might be.....HAPPY!

This cannot BE!

What has happened? I even had "alerts" on eBay for stuff I ...needed... and now I ...IGNORE .... them.

I may even let my magazine subscriptions expire.

Is there hope? Salvation?

Methinks that you may have temporarily overdosed. Give it a couple of months and that itch to buy another knife will return.

you sure it isn't depression? Have you been sleeping alot lately and eating less? Feeling tired and lethargic? :p Just teasing,..glad your happy. I wish I was happy!

Man, how can you be "knifed out" now? There's a bunch a good stuff that's yet to be released, Spydercos, Kershaws, heck, EVEN Busses! (if you can believe it) The past couple of years were slow, in the high and end of our recession, and I had a pretty good lull there myself, but now, these are exciting times!, C'mom, you KNOW you want a Dark Ops Statrocasterwannabedisembowler8000.

You are running a temp. Rest, drink lots of fluids, and stay at BladeFourms, all WILL be well again!

I bet you haven't cut yourself lately. That's it. You haven't kept up a level of those steel molecules in your bloodstream, and the infection is fading. You're no longer a Creature of the Knife, you are reverting to ... Human.

Lavan- I think I might be with you on this one. My two main knives are a BM 940 and a Vic Rucksack. I'm still going to carry the 940, but I think a Trekker with a clip will soon be in another pocket.

does the Trekker come with a clip, if not, how does one install it?

Lavan...Obviously you need to buy a Surefire flashlight so you can find your Stingray Skin wallet in the dark to retrieve your credit card so you can purchase a Tom Anderson pen in order to make yourself a note to shop for a new Sinn or Rolex ;) :p :)

Esav, being a sword-swallower by profession I doubt that is the problem.

  :D

You have to be able to block those kind of thoughts and replace them with "better" ones :D I picked up one of those Wal-Mart version Buck Trios (3 bladed stockman) last week, and typical to me, when I get a new folder, I will EDC it and use it for a few days just to see how well it EDC's. The reality of the situation was, that it managed about 98% of the EDC things I do  I immediately replaced that thought with how lost I would be without my SAK, FRN Delica, BM556 Mini Grip, Ka-Bar/Dozier, and Paramilitary or the other 70 or so folders in my collection. I'm happy again and able to continue my quest for the next "one" :D I figure the fun factor of collecting and playing more than offsets reality. I mean, we all have enough reality day to day as it is - there has to be some fun in there :)

You'll be fine. I think we all learn that a good simple knife is just fine, but we like to have all the "bells, lights, whistles", etc. The older I get the less tacticals I carry. I mainly just carry good ole SJ's and thats it for the most part.

Theres a reason those old patterns have been around for so long ;)

....by the way, heres a change in a trekker handle! How about the Bundeswehr version :D :

Actually Lavan, it seems width had been covered and now is the time for depth.

Next is the forged blade and all of its ramifications (differential heat treat, damascus, packing, mosaic, etc). Then comes the history, many styles and designs that have developed in different parts of the world from jambayas and shabarias to balis. Then we go into chemistry and why it all works.

You need new questions to be answered by new answers. The knife world is somewhat unique in its offereings depending on the depth desired. Think of your mind as a "hungry edge" cutting deeper ;)
