My favorites are: CPM-3V, S390 and 80CrV2.

Steels I used during my life:
AUS8
AUS10
D2
SK5
3V
S390
K390
M390
440C
VG10
VG7
4116
52100
1095
1095CV
1075
8Cr13MoV
80CrV2
13C27
S35VN
S90V

But, lately I think "What are chances that I am missing out on something?" Or "Is Magnacut worth it?" And so on...

The M4 is steel I often think about.
MagnaCut is the steel I often see, but always avoid for some reason
AEB-L is steel I'd like to try, but can't get my hands on.

What are your thoughts?

EDIT: To add S90V, as I forgot to mention it.

AEB-L & her sisters....ran Hard. Don't waste your time if it's not 62HRC or higher.
62 for a woods knife
63 for a slicer, maybe 64 for kitchen.

It's probably the best, most versatile knife steel.

*Edit M4 calls me too, I want some soon!
I know I'll Love it, as M2 is fantastic, and 4 is More....haha

Also add to your list
15N20
CPM Cruwear

A11, 10v

80crv2 is a long time favorite of mine. Hard to beat for a woods knife along with AEB-L and 14c28n.

I'm indifferent to super steels on folders. I'll take a classic easy to reprofile, sharpen, and strop steel over super steel all day. Edge geometry all the way!

I agree on M4 and 15n20.

When I got my first knife in M4 I was disappointed because I expected it to be something magical. But I quickly got over than and still love it. I used to cut a lot of cardboard at my old job and I loved my M4 spydercos (manix 2 and a delica). So easy to touch up on my DMT stones to the point that I could do it a few minutes after I woke up in the morning lol.

I don’t have any production knives in 15n20 but I like to work with it and really like the test knives I’ve made for myself and friends. If you can get a 15n20 blade from someone who knows how to maximize its potential I think you’d be really happy

If you start futzing around with m4 I too will be excited.

Yeah, I like boring knives in fantastic steels.

Me too! Haha
Alpha has 12" pieces for 44 bucks.
I don't think I could afford a Big one, but something small or medium would be nice.
We can't talk sales publicly
Hit me up privately if interested, but as a warning I'm starting to get a fanbase/waiting list.....
You'll need More patience than money. :/

I have a warm and fuzzy relationship with Cruwear. I feel that it give cutting edge performance but "behaves" like an old school steel. Benchmade has really knocked dit out of the park using it.

Magnacut was one of those "why would I need this" steels. So many other steels out there, and I'm supposed to get on board with this being a Goldilocks steel? I recently got a Spartan SHF in it...I need this. Magnacut may be one of the most "perfect" steels I have dabbled with.

I still like the performance of the way the thin Cruwear edge cuts on my Adamas knives, but Spartan grinds theirs thick. The Magnacut is stout in that folder and it damn near perfect in every regard .

So I probably am missing out on that one?
