One of my customers droped in this afternoon with a very nice new book--IndianTrade Relics 2003 edition. He says get a load of this and points to a tomahawk and low and behold it is one I make in large batches. The book dates it between 1830 and 1850. Some one did the hot bleach treatment and it really looks old but my company name still shows. You got to love these antique dealers :D I can't wait to show the kids how famous their Grandpa is

I don't remember the page # but it is the one that is stamped "cast steel--Allan Mfg-- warrented" they said it was shipped from England.
Actually that head type is a very popular throwing hawk at the buckskin events. I made the wooden pattern about 30 - 35 years ago and it has been our best seller ever since. I just shot the sample waxes on a new type hawk this afternoon -- I call it "French Cross" as I have a double bar cross pierced through the blade.

The book we are talking about is one of the best I have seen. The pictures are very high quality -- there are probibly 50 early knives showen. If any one knows who sells the book let me know I would like to buy one.

the book is listed on ebay in several locations,"trade silver" is the listing i am familiar with. barnes and noble carry the other 3 books on relics at the maplewood mall location, try giving them a call.probably any of the B&N stores in the cities can get it or may even have a copy. :)

That's great stuff. Whoever thinks that they'll live to be old enough that their work will become a relic before their very eyes? Computer engineers don't count.

the items i make have been showing up all over the country as 200 year old relics, nothing new there. as far as the book goes ,modern and fake items were purposely put into the book to throw off would be counterfiters. anyone can copy a picture, but hold the item in your hand and have the knowledge to tell what is real or fake are two totally different realities.
