Am I sharpening right?

When I sharpen my knife, the Kershaw Scallion, when I am done, it is sharp enough to push-cut newspaper, but if I take a magnifying glass to the cutting edge, it looks curved, like a backwards hollow-grind.
Is this bad for my knives? Why is this happening?

The edge is convexed. If you sharpen by hand, it is impossible for you to hold the angle exactly the same on each pass. With the minor variations in angle, you end up with a smooth curve when you're done. Not a problem, a lot of people do it on purpose for their own reasons.

You should make a video of your technique and post it on the web, people will worship you and your convex edge and write poetry about its cutting ability. Just kidding, hardheart is right on. Sharp is sharp and push cutting newsprint is sharp. Enjoy using that edge

If it's sharp and there's no burr, then you're good to go. Only way to get perfectly straight bevels is to use some kind of system. That's what my DMT Aligner gives me. But when I start sharpening by hand again, it eventually becomes convexed.

Haaaaaaaa! That's the truth! lol
