Am I the only one that has this problem with the compression lock?

I recently got the Salsa. When I open it, my finger gets pinched between the liner and the scale. Not that its painful but still it seems this should not happen. Otherwise a great design and innovative knife. I like the shape, the hood and the wire clip. But it should not nip at the hand that feeds it.

Hi Roger,

There is a bit of a learning curve with the compression lock as it is now. The trick to not getting bit is to move your hand a little further up the knife handle when gripping it (just a couple mm). This way the fleshy part of your forefinger doesn't get pinched by the tip of the lock lever.

What are you feeding it? Maybe some of our spicy Cajun dellicasies are giving it indigestion. ;) :p

Just joshing a fellow coon ass :D

My Vesuvius pinches me pretty good. Actually, after I had carried it about a month or so, then switched to the endura again, I found myself slightly flinching as I opened the endura -- anticipating the pinch of the formerly-carried Vesuvius! You can re-position your hand a bit to avoid the pinch, but I'm actually hoping Spyderco comes up with a way to alleviate this. The lock seems to be rock solid otherwise.

My Gunting or Temperance Jrs will sometimes pinch me on opening, but not always. Depends on the grip I have and how much flesh I'm feeding to it :D

When I first got my Vesuvius, the same thing happened to a degree. While the lock seems very secure, I still favor a liner-lock for everyday utility use. Just a little quicker to manipulate, smoother to operate and less cumbersome as well.

There was a thread about this same subject a while back...until I read it, I never got pinched, but after I tried opening my Gunting a few times I found I *could* pinch myself, if I kind of tried. Must just be an individual physiognomy kind of thing (or you guys have really soft hands :p ).

What about the integral compression lock on the ATR? I'm afraid of actually bleeding from that. I had a gunting that bit me every time I opened it.

I was lucky enough to use Nemo's Gunting for a while, it got me good and proper a fair few times! I hope this is not a long term issue?
