Howdy folks!

Man its been a while since I've been here. I dont even know how to use this "new and improved mobile site" yet!

But anyways....

Over the last few years my tastes in folders has shifted more towards the mid-high end scene.
I've been carrying a PM2 or a ZT almost exclusively.
Handled many different ones as well.

I've been lusting after a Buck 55 for many years. Even before I joined this site, but never bought one. No real reason why.
I knew that a store about 35 miles from my house sold them though.
I own a couple 110s, a 303 and a few Bantams. Nothing really to brag about if you ask me. Decent quality, but lacked a "wow" factor.

But I still wanted a 55 and finally bought one. I got it from that shop, and paid a whopping $70 for it......
Too much, I know. But hey, I supported a local business.

I must say, I am impressed with it.
Its built really really well for such a small knife, and man its sharp!
Good centering, no gaps, good snap and good action.
A little bit of side-to-side play, but nothing to complain about.
This little knife has definitely shifted my opinions on Buck knives.

My only complaint is that the wood scales have no coating on them, so I'm worried about how they will hold up.

Any 55 fans on here??

yep great little folder. like a half size 110. keep one handy often.

you paid more than buck sells them on their site for that one. that is dedication to your local vendor.

yeah walnut on the 2016 and up maybe late 2015 models, rather than dymondwood as they used to be just prior. ill let the buck experts chime in on right dates and such.

good little knife enjoy 'er.

A very good knife when you get a good one. It took me several tries, but the one that I have now is great! Good size for EDC and locks up tight. I like the blade shape.

They're not a bad looking little knife, but are a near miss for me or I'd probably own one already.
It's pretty obvious that they designated it the model 55 as it's basically a 1/2 scale Buck 110 , but the slanted bolsters kill that notion for me.
If they made them without slanted bolsters they'd be perfect and I'd love to pair one with my 110 for edc. How cool would it be to have a Buck 110 on your belt and a 1/2 scale miniature 110 in your pocket , very cool of course.

Anyways I'm glad you love your new knife which you overpaid for, I've overpaid for knives at the local hardware store but was happy to do so.

I still have (2) Buck 503's from my youth. I much prefer the looks of them over the 55 any day of the week.

I love the 55. It's a nice all around knife, and I am a fan of the clip point blade. Unfortunately for me, the old lady likes it a little more than I do :D so I've gifted it to her, and am going to try out the 505 I have coming in the mail. My 501 has been my main EDC for a month or so now, so I'm used to the drop point lifestyle. I'll be picking up another 55 at some point, for sure.

Hmm i have never paid much attention to the 55. I pawn shop near me has a nib 501 with micarta scales that i have been eyeing but i kinda like the clip point 55 better. Might get both;)

You paid more than buck sells them on their site for that one. that is dedication to your local vendor.
To be completely honest with ya, I thought $50-$60 was normal selling price for em, so I thought I was only overpaying $10 or so. It wasn't until I had already owned it that I realized just how much I spent.

I love my Buck 55! It goes especially well in my handmade leather slip case. A great old fashioned look, but still a sharp and very functional tool. It's also pretty sheeple friendly in my experience.

At $70 you certainly...supported a local dealer. I scored mine on eBay, brand new, for $20, and couldn't be happier!
