Amazing Christmas gift- Sebenza 21

This Christmas I received a knife I've been drooling over for years. A large plain Sebenza 21! I was truly shocked and amazed when I opened it. I'll say I've handled one before but never owned one and had forgotten the true bare bones beauty and simplicity it has. It's actually my first titanium framelock also. Which is taking a little getting used to. I keep wanting to apply pressure on the outside of the lockbar when I close it like a traditional liner lock where the pressure doesn't matter due to the outside scale covering it. I'm also particularly used to knives with holes for the opening method. So needless to say, two days later my thumb's a bit sore. I won't say owning it for all of two days that it's a magical piece of wizardry or anything like that and angels didn't sing the first time I opened it, but it truly is going to be one hell of a workhorse for me for many years to come. The lockup is SECOND TO NONE in my opinion. I'm planning on picking up some fluoro grease this weekend and give it it's first cleaning and re-lube and probably take the lanyard off as I'm not really a fan of lanyards on larger knives. I've also wanted to break one down personally and reassemble it to truly experience the ease of maintenance I always hear about. I know this post is probably white noise amongst countless other Sebenza posts, but I figured I'd share my excitement for my newest piece. If anyone has any suggestions and tips for a new CRK owner feel free to share them or post any links you may feel helpful. Thanks in advance!

That's a pretty impressive gift. Who gave it to you? Wife, parents...?

I really liked my Sebenza, but sold it because I didn't carry it much and didn't want to ruin the resale value. I didn't carry it much because I'm just not much of a folder guy.

But it was a hell of a knife.

Fantastic gift, congratulations! Don't feel like you can't use it hard. It will take anything you can dish out, and then you can always send it in for the spa treatment. Enjoy!

That's really awesome man, congratulations. Every year since I've been into knives, I wonder if anyone will bother to try and get me one. It hasn't happened yet lol.

Congrats, that is a nice gift! As a CRK owner, here is my advice.... Use it. You will not truly "get it" unless you use it. That is when you will appreciate it.

Congratulations! I finally broke down and bought my first Sebenza (A large 21) a month ago. The quality is as good as everybody says.

Just don't be afraid of using it.

congrats, I found some S90V under the tree myself in a new smurf blue Spyderco Military. maybe next year I'll get a seb.

It was a gift from my father & mother in law. They are amazing and always take care of me at Christmas.. Although they did say that it counted for my birthday & Father's Day 2014 also. But Hey,I'll take it! Thanks guys I will definitely post a few pics ASAP!

If your inlaws are that great, your wife must be something superb! Happy for you.
We love white noise on this forum, particularly when we hear about Sebbies. I have a large "Regular" in my pocket and several other Sebs and Zaans around the house. Never found its equal and I have looked and looked hard.
Welcome and many happy future posts from you...we hope.
No suggestions other than use it. Don't sweat the spider-trails on titanium slabs. I love 'em, and a spa treatment will get rid of them if you ever want to. CRK is the cat's meow, friend.

Here she is

As you can see I'm already wearing the ano off of the thumb stud

Went ahead and removed the lanyard

Just took some spare blue 325 size paracord and threaded it through and trimmed it to the edge of the tube on each side and then melted it and pressed it down. Keeps it nice and snug with no rattle!
