As this year draws to a close many of us will spend time reflecting on the highs and lows that 2016 has brought our way. For me and my family it has been a trying year and simultaneously extremely rewarding year both in business and family. I know that many of our significant others may roll their eyes when we start talking about knives or something we read or saw on this forum but BladeForums has been a huge outlet for me, a way to escape and relax but also to connect with all of the extremely knowledgeable folks on here. I had visited the site in the past but rediscovered it so to speak when I started looking around for a specific knife: the Northwoods Indian River Jack. My membership has lead to some excellent conversations, generosity, and a few great additions to my personal collection, but I still hadn’t found the knife that brought me to the porch in the first place.
That is until today. Last week I was contacted by Jbverv about a blue camel bone IRJ and I thought finally I had found the knife I was looking for, only to be blindsided by even more generosity. Jbverv was going to GIFT me the knife, the one I had been looking for pretty much all year. When I received this beautiful, mint condition knife this afternoon I was further dumbfounded to find that my new IRJ came with a GEC #15 Boys Knife in burnt orange jig bone.
I don’t know where everyone stands with faith, but my faith in people and random acts of kindness has truly been elevated by the thoughtfulness and generosity I have found on this forum. To Jbverv and the BladeForums community: I am so grateful for the altruism directed toward me, and it will not stop with me. I will pay it forward many times over. What a wonderful way to end the year, Merry Christmas!

Ummmm... wow. That speaks volumes about this place called the porch. That is a truly astonishing level of generosity. Congratulations on finding your knife and perhaps a friend for life. Words fail.
Thanks, Neal

Ah, yeah, good stuff right there. Put jbverv on Santa's good list. Jbverv, that's just a wonderful thing to do.

When you turn on the evening News any day of the week it can be quite disheartening to say the least. However as crazy as this old world is it's storys like this and the people in them that let's you know there's still a hell of a lot of good people out there. Especially here in this place we call Traditionals:D. Thanks for sharing JITDC

Great gift. That blue bone equal end may have been what you have been searching for, but I'd kick it out of the pocket in a heart beat for that GEC stainless 15 with burnt orange bone!

Such a looker!

That burnt orange #15 is pretty sweet I will admit! Both are absolutely fantastic knives, couldn't resist carrying both today. I am very blessed to have them in my pocket!

Very nice gesture and although typical for this particular subforum, I never tire of reading these acts of kindness. Well done. :D

Good on ya, Jbverv! JITDC, give 'em the pocket time they deserve and don't forget to oil the joints. :D

That's just awesome, WOW! Congrats on your new knives. Many kudos to jbverv for this wonderful act of kindness/thoughtfulness. This forum continues to amaze me in it's true sense of family-like atmosphere. At times I really wish I could meet you all as I feel like I "know" many of you from the interactions and exchanges that go on here daily. I know of no-where else that such a wonderful bunch of folks congregate.

Congrats on those fantastic (and colorful) new knives, JITDC!!:thumbup: Thanks for sharing your story here.
Accolades to jbverv for his generosity!!:D:thumbup:

I've hung around here long enough to know that such stories are not at all uncommon here, yet I'm still kind of surprised and get a goofy grin and a lift to my spirits each time I read about one of these kind and generous acts. :p
