Doing a quick review of the Glock 81 knife/bayonet,
a few specs first:
Total Length: 290 mm / 11.4 in
Blade: 165 mm / 6.5 in
Weight: 202 g / 7.13 oz
GRIP Polymer
BLADE: Spring Steel HRC 55
MADE IN AUSTRIA!
I love this knife, it is made out of high carbon spring steel with a black primer coating to prevent oxidizing, the grip and sheath are made of glock's signature moulded polymer which is all weather proof and extremely strong. the knife comes in a few configurations which include black, olive and sand colors and the option of a saw on the back of the blade, the saw is the most effective saw i have ever used on a knife and could easily cut down a small tree. the bolster is made of the same steel and has an added feature of a bottle opener should you need a few cold beers opened during a survival situation ;) . the but of the knife has a polymer plug which can me removed to make room for a bayonet fitting (i have looked online but cannot find where to get the fitting) or even a small storage area if needed. Moving on to the sheath we have an extremely secure latching system to keep the knife in place and not moving about in the sheath, as well as a large belt clip which can be used in the inverted position and strapped to a backpack shoulder strap. the sheath can be effortlessly wrapped in 550 cord and even has a loop near the bottom presumably to string the paracord, there is also a drainage hole at the bottom of the sheath to allow for water to run out. The knife was geared towards the Austrian army rangers and makes an excellent fighting/self defence knife as well as a primary survival knife, I can easily recommend it to anyone with these functions in mind. If you would like to see or buy one you can get it direct from glock at this url: https://store.teamglock.com/index.php/catalog/product/view/id/287/
If anyone has any questions concerning the knife i will be glad to help, also if you have one and would like to add your thoughts and opinions that would be appreciated

The Glock field knife was made to be rugged and idiot proof.
As a military knife, it has few competitors.
It is a weapon first and a general purpose knife second.
http://worldbayonets.com/Bayonet_Identification_Guide/Austria/feldmesser78_aug.pdf
It excels as a total weapons package.
For anyone else on the look out for a military field knife,
The Glock 78 makes very robust knife for its price.
It isn't perfect, but it certainly makes a joyful pass time knife throwing in the yard.

It's a classic.
If you search the net for "Das gute alte Glock" you find some interesting pictures on the german speaking forums.
Hope this helps.
