Here is one full-page illustration displaying amazing
modern knife art from Russia.

In this case, 2 of the many wondrous collaborations between the
two carving artists A. Malyushin (top) and Oleg Doroshenko (bottom)
and Natalia Zabelina (Bladesmith).

This is a sample from one of four sections in my next book
that display modern custom Russian knife art and the stories
of some of these contemporary knife artists...

All the best,
David Darom (ddd)

I'm sure not everybody's taste, but for me these knives are what it is about in knifecollecting. Especially the dragon knife is amazing, the carving is topnotch and the steel is interesting too.

Great photo as well.

I agree, looking forward to the book.
David, when will it be out?

First thing that comes to mind is Amazing!

PS: As a maker this is eventually followed by a little sadness that I'll never be that good. :(

Hello Kevin,

My 10th book on Modern Custom Knives, "The World of Art Knives" Vol. 2
will be introduced early next year....

All the best,
David Darom (ddd)

David, that dragon knife is incredible, and is an "art knife" in EVERY regard, unlike so many that carry the label but not the look - or the workmanship.

Best,

Bob

I agree with Patrice. Now if I could learn to live to 175, I might be able to make something like that.

BEAUTIFUL!!! David, do you have an up-close shot of the blade by any chance? I'm really curious to see what's going on in that steel

I am sorry, but I created this page by combining 2 original pictures one of
each of the full setups of sculptures photographed together with their knives.
I therefore cannot show the half hidden blade fully, in all its beauty...

The Wild Damascus blades were created by Natalia Zabelina, a young
and very promising Russian woman bladesmith... You will be able to see more
of her work in the book....

All the best,
David Darom (ddd)

great looking knives and fit my liking quite nicely. Looking forward to the book but soon my bookshelves will be full like the rest of the house.

Why Murray, do you keep several copies of my books, like I do?

One more wonderous work of Russian Knife-Art-Sculpture, also from my next book...

Damascus steel blade by Sergey Epishkin.
Carved and tinted mammoth ivory rats, and carved boxwood, by Alexandr Sidorov.

This artistic knife sculpture was inspired by the collector’s request to create a
knife-related art piece involving rats.
The whole setup includes a large 24 3/4” (630 mm) oakwood stand, representing
the river on which the the log of wood with surviving rats is floating downstream.

Length of the knife and sheath sculpture 12 5/8” (320 mm).

All the best,
David Darom (ddd)

good story, strange knife however. And David -- I do have a few books that are not yours taking up shelf space plus books that are not knife related. Our collections involve more than knives.

:) :) :) :)

Yes, Murray, it may be strange as a "Knife" but look at
the level of artistry involved in creating such a "Knife Related" art display...

All the best,

More AMAZING Russian Knife Art from a beautiful collection displayed in
my next book "The World of Art Knives" Vol. II, due early in 2014.
Here again, a collaboration between Natalia Zabelina (Russia) who created
the Damascus blade and Oleg Doroshenko (Ukraine) who carved the
Mammoth ivory knife handle, the amazing life-like tinted Mammoth ivory scorpion
and the ebony bolsters.
An extremely time consuming project because of the detailed carving of
the Mammoth ivory scorpion...

All the best,
David Darom (ddd)
