Kitchen -utility knife. D2 steel. Overall 10 inches. 6 inch cutting edge 1 ½ inches wide. Handle is an amber resin mix. Guard is custom cast feather design, bronze from an old Yukon River barge propeller. Custom animal track pins. Acid etched freehand chickadee bird one side, flower on the other side. D2 is a semi stainless tool steel that holds its edge well and holds up to acid foods and resists staining

I got a break during an Alaska cool spell to go to Tucson. Sold at a knife event there, did well and motivated to create. I did some buying at the gem fossil show. That was different for me as I have set up there selling for years, now I’m a buyer! Got some really interesting handle materials. I got jade and other stones to work with. This amber plastic composite is different and interesting to work with, has a look I have never seen before in handle material. A little fragile- brittle if dropped, but holds up better then I thought in tests.

I have done a lot of etching now, and enjoy working with the difficult D2 as a challenge. I am working on my own pins. This is my paw print design I keep trying to improve on.

Below is a set of jade scales I made from material I got at the show.

:thumbup:Nice knife, Miles. Your knives are always so unique!:)

Thanks! I sure enjoy coming to this part of the forum and seeing what others are coming up with as their own style, and the interesting solutions to the process of knife making. It's nice to share in that.
