I have sworn by my Buck 112 since the mid-70's and and am now looking at their new tactical folders like the mini Strider. The problem is I'm left handed and the new Bucks are not.Does Buck Knives have any plans on developing ambidextrious knives like Benchmade with their axis-lock,duel thumbstuds and moveable belt clips.I certainly hope so because we leftys represent 30% of the buying public and I'm sure many of us would prefer to remain loyal to Buck. The current trend of knives that can be opened and closed one-handed with "either" hand is a great concept and I for one would hate to see Buck Knives fall behind in this development

Yep, I,too, get tired of "adapting" to a all things right hand just because
God made me a lefty. It's true that left hand only knives don't sell well.
With 30% of the population to sell to it's understandable because right
handers seldom are willing to "adapt" and aren't forced to buy left hand
because that's all thats available.

Just how much aditional cost or development time would be added to
include a dual thumb stud to any knife??

Oh no, not ANOTHER lefty in this forum!:D They tell me lefties only represent a small portion of the population. I don't believe that, one only needs to read this forum to know that can't possibly be true!:)
But anyway, Buck ahs been getting closer towards making their knives more Ambi. Some knives i have seen on the drawing board (no, i can't give any hints) are pretty close to being ambidextrous.

Supposedly we represent somewhere between 15-30% of the population. Right-handers don't realize how much the world is customized to them, from ladles with a notch only on one side, to playing cards which have the pips in the wrong corners for people who want to fan them a natural way for lefties.

I know Buck can't make true leftie knives (though I do own a CRKT Mirage with a real left-handed liner lock), But ambidextrous thumb studs are easy to design, and would be a big help. I have a Strider bought through the special club offer (one of sixteen) that begs to be used, but I can't open it easily. Similarly, the sheath on my Big Sky, if it were shaped just a little differently, would be ambidextrous. Why not go the little extra step?

I'm feeling just a little grumpy about this right now, since I've just been diagnosed with severe carpal-tunnel in my right hand - I suspect I woun't be using it for much of anything for a while :(

Dual thumb studs would cost little. Drilling out the left
scale so a pocket clip could be reversed would cost even
less.

Joe,

So WHY IS IT that ALL Buck folders that are ment for "one hand opening" don't come equipped with ambidextrious thumb-studs??? Someting that simple can't be all that costly!

...An inquiring "Lefty"...:).
