just got my first Busse,a secondhand SH2E with the cordura sheath, gotta love these knives! was the sheath designed to be ambidextrous or did it just work out that way? this one has great retention, either way.seems to fit a little tighter lefty,so I'm wondering if it's actually supposed to fit that way,but it works great.

I'd say that the sheath just more or less came out that way. I'm sure Left v. Right was considered, but look at the simple nylon fabric sheath, with the plastic insert. It was actually easier NOT to shape it for left or right. Unless you care about which way the snap faces (think about it catching on brush and coming open as you move through the woods), I'd call it an ambidextrous sheath by virtue of simplicity and economy. It was easier and cheaper to make it that way. Eminently logical

BTW, I took some advice from Ron and put my SHII (straight handle) under my belt, and used the strap on the pouch in front for a belt loop. That way I achieved a reasonably high and stable carry. I'm still too cheap to have ordered a kydex high ride rig from one of 3 or 4 fine makers who have them available.

the fit on my sheath is so tight I'm not at all worried about the snap, the strap seems to be velcroed in place anyway, probably could be reversed.
