Each year the ABS auctions off knives during the Blade show to help fund the society. Last year I was fortunate enough to pick up this Don Fogg sword:

The most prestigious knife is usually the Board of Directors knife. This year's knife was recently posted.

"The board knife was forged by Bill Moran, ground by Greg Neely. Fancy file work done by Joe Keeslar and heat treatment by Jim Batson. The blade was hand finished by Bert Gaston, the metal sheath fittings were made by Jerry Fisk, the sheath made by Jay Hendrickson. Handle was made by Rick Dunkerley. Steve Dunn assembled the guard and did the engraving on the sheath and guard. It is a truly masterful piece."

Last year's Board of Director's knife went for a little over $10,000. The current bid is $4,000.

Well Gabe, if the pictures of that Fogg sword weren't enough to produce a flood of drool (and they were!) then the link to the auction knives certainly did. The Massey damascus folder is a beauty, but my heart really stopped at the collaboration big bowie. Wow!

The blade is 320 layer 1084 and 15N20 ladder pattern damascus which has been etched and hot blued. The handle is checkered ivory with 24 carat gold pins and the bolsters have also been inlaid with gold.

Hey, Gabe. Thanks for helping me ruin my keyboard; I just drooled heavily all over mine. That Fogg sword in incredible! The Massey, of course, is spectacular as well.

This bowie by Mastersmiths John Fitch, Ronnie Foster, J.W. Randall and Charles Robinson still has no bids.

That collaboration bowie is one of the nicest I have seen. I love the idea of having a knife with the marks of so many fantastic makers on it.
