I have to say that this is a great example of, not only, design, fit, and finish, but the construction methods are just great. I love the way the handle frame serves as a rail to directly link up with the tang. Very strong. It also seems this knife is a "take down", since it's held to gether with pins. Thanks for showing this knife.

I learned some things from just looking at the pictures. :D Lin

Hello Mr Rhea,I have often seen your bowies in the website robertsoncustomcutlery and in the magazine and annual knives, really beatiful
thank you

Let me add my complements to a fine interpretation of the Bowie style. I also admire the "rail" take-down idea. Haven't seen this before.

great knife. but what's the purpose of the " take down " ?

Thanks-Any knifemaker has asked this question because they know him to them-when you see a bowie full tag so many times it is not it,with this job the handle is very strong, many knifemakers adopt hastier systems-

That is a very nice knife. Simple yet elegant design, and the handle construction and attachment is super.

Thanks to all this it is a forum of connoisseurs-I am happy to belong to this family!

Marsus,
I have a question. It's about the pin that goes thought the handle, which holds the handle and tang together. It seems that there is a liner or bushing in the hole, which looks oversized(the hole, that is). This appears to be another ingenious idea, which might make the pin easier to put in and remove for take down. Can you show a better shot of that and tell me if any of this is true?

I can invision using a teflon liner or something of the sort with beveled edges that would funnel the pin so it wont hang up. Lin

Beautiful bowie. One question though. How do you glue it up without clogging up the slot for the tang? Or are the pins just peened with no epoxy?

Darren

This is a very nice mid-size Bowie. Love the construction. As Lin mentioned, very strong.
Great stag. The only thing I'm not crazy about is the pin selection.

It is not teflon but an epossidico of the Sidol, hard but elastic-this epossidico has also been used for the pins of the handle what thanks to his elasticity it respects the sambar stag handle-

the sambar scales have fixed with pins with elastic epossidico, on the metallic part of the handle, this metallic part it is inserted with tall precision in the guide ,of tang, for all of his length also in the final part of the knob.the central pin it doesn't make any effort and he can easily be removed ,even two handles can be made, one for the working days the other for the festive ones:D
I forgot, the sambar stag scales they perfectly copy the tang-
