So I've only been 'into' traditionals for a short time, I bought my first from silenthunterstudios (trade actually) and have bought, sold, and traded quite a few over the last 9 months or so...learned a LOT.
Several things I 'knew' have been proven wrong...bigger than 4" does not necessarily make a better knife. I do still prefer stainless, so GEC and Buck play a big part of my 'likes', especially the 425m Bucks...made by Buck, not Camillus, I've got a TL-29 from my dad to scratch that itch.
Stag, elk, bone scales took a while to grow on me, but now I really prefer them; especially American Elk. I've got two so far, a GEC Conductor and, as of today thanks to Boggs (thanks Jim) a single blade jack #48.
I'll post better pics tomorrow, for now cell phone pics will have to do...post up your Elk too, I'd love to see 'em...
Oh, and I'd love to know how YOU maintain your elk.

I just lucked out and snagged a TA Davison carbon fiber light weight...not exactly traditional scales, but I can't wait to put it into my rotation too.
Cheers!

I really like elk too, but unlike you I much prefer 1095 over stainless for my knives. As of now, GEC only seems to offer it on the house brand, and that whole line is stainless. I do have a Conductor, though, and I absolutely love it. A true gentleman's knife that spends each day with me. Yours looks nice.

Elk ranks right up there with stag for desirability in my book. I love the white contrast with the brown, versus a more yellow appearance that stag has.
I have s GEC Muskrat in elk and its a keeper.

The only elk scaled knife I have is Bruce Bump's #27 in amber dyed elk. I believe Bruce harvested the antler himself (if memory serves).

Josh, I'll give you a hundred bucks for that knife, right now! :D

Seriously, though, that is one gorgeous knife Bruce made.

Here is a group shot of some elk stag. Only the fixed blade is 1095 instead of 440C.

Tempting, but I must decline;) Thank you, I think it is gorgeous as well. Bruce is the epitome of craftsman.

Nice knives, guys!

I only have one GEC with elk covers. I also have an elk round that I might put to use sometime.

I don't have any Elk yet, but man they are beautiful knives everyone  Plus they're in 440C, another reason to grab one, I just haven't had a chance yet.

If GEC does another run of the Conductor (with bail) in Elk I'd hope to pick one up, it's my favorite of all of the Elk handles so far.

I especially appreciate these with minimal barking--makes them a bit dressier for more upscale occasions.

Isn't that a curious thing? I really like the heavy bark apparent on some of these and on others the lack of heavy bark is more appealing.

Love the pictures so far...thanks so much for posting.

This is the only one I own in elk. My phone is on the fritz so this is a dealers pic.

Its the 73 size (not the 23) which is nice since I just use my for backpacking and hiking, not gutting a deer or whatnot. The larger 23 size might freak people out on the trail. Anywho, love the elk handles and the saber grind.

Nepal not Tibet MP. I have that Kerambits sister (by a different kami but looks identical). If you ever want to sell it give me a shout, mine would love some company!
