Frankly, not sure where to post this. But If you have heard the phrase "It'll be worth the wait" this is what they are talkin' bout! Got it today and it is one of those things that photos can't do justice - the level of detail, fit and finish of something this size is amazing. Heavier than I thought but expertly engineered so it NEVER feels out of balance. Edge is razor sharp but not frail - I would be comfortable fighting an elephant with this thing or a gorilla or maybe that killer whale down the road. You get the point. As for technique: swing it early and often would be my choice. Enjoy!

In hand pics were with a mirror but should give you a sense of scale.

there are hogs where you live. that means you need to book a hog hunt trip using dogs and get that thing wet

I was thinking the exact same thing - a buddy of mine knows some Lake City boys that hog hunt with knives. We shall see.

Okay, you got some pics of a neat looking knife with a looong handle. A really neat lookin' knife. Or, spear, or sword or...?

Sooo, where are the details, please?

JMO, but to me that wicked creation seems to be more of a modern tactical naginata than a spear.

Wicked!
Would scare the hell out of me if I saw it coming.
It is a bat with a blade? It it a spear? Quit thinking, run!

I've seen Kami's stuff, it's incredible!

How do you like the single chisel grind? Does it take some time getting used to? How does it compare to a more conventional edge?

I'd consider it a polearm hybrid, much like the Japanese nagamaki, which is halfway between a naginata and a katana.

OVERALL LENGTH: 27.5 Inches
BLADE LENGTH: 9.0 Inches
BLADE THICKNESS: 0.25 Inch
STEEL: 1095, Differentially heat treated
GRIND: Hollow right hand chisel
EDGE: Standard chisel
HANDLE: 3 piece G10, .75 inch thick
SHEATH: 0.08 Inch thick Kydex with drain hole

I like the chisel grind. But to be clear I have not cut anything with it yet.

I wish I was more knowledgeable to discuss the design style more thoroughly but the maker, DJ is a very nice guy and will happily talk knives with anyone anytime.

PB--- That's a great piece!
DJ is a maker like no one else... we know that. ;)
Thanks for the pix.

I am certainly as unfamiliar with the design as you are. Can someone else explain to us why one would want so much handle and so little blade?

The ability to chop hard and with long reach (by grasping at the end of the handle), as well as being able to use it two-handed. Furthermore it allows for fine work by shocking up on the handle (in an area that would normally be blade on another chopper)

That makes sense. Maybe even a hybrid pudao?

Anyway, it reminds me a bit of Cold Steel's newer machetes with the long handles. I've been looking at the khukuri version with mild interest. Since they are relatively inexpensive, I might get one come payday. Like I need another edged weapon.:o:)

I'm grabbing at LEAST one 2-handed panga and giving it a partial back edge. :D

Couldn't have said it better myself - thanks! Plus with it sheathed the pommel provides a nice little persuader with some stand off distance thanks to the handle length.
