Went into a local knife store and handled a entry axe made by this company. Seemed like a pretty high quality little tool. G-10 grips up and down both sides and 130.00. Store is getting in some american kami knives and I'm pretty excited. Look to be custom made hard use knives at very inexpensive prices. Anyone have any experience with the maker or knives? Thanks.

If you could post a pic, I might be able to tell you if I know them. I DO know someone who sells knives under that particular name, but it might not be the same person. A pic would help.

I have not seen a picture of this entry tool on the internet, but on tadgear there is a knife by the same maker.

I've got this one called the Serrated Tsuno on order. I had to have it when I saw it. This guys good. His grinds are super and I enjoyed speaking with him on the phone. I haven't been this excited about a fixed blade in a long time. This should be a great 1095 outdoors utility tool and for the money I feel it was a steal to be honest with you. 8.25" long and 1/4" thick. Only diff between what I ordered and the picture is that I got olive drab para cord instead of the khaki.

STR, you are right.

Wow, that work is simply stunning in the polished variety.

I love the finish he leaves, and the blades omg, them are nasty looking.

Diff 1095, on the one larger T-Bowie made me cringe, i want it bad, to own it i mean not have it in me lol.

Thanks for an eye opener guys.

Yeah, I know him! He's a really nice guy and does VERY nice work for the price. Right honorable guy. Even nicer to talk to. Very nice to see his blades getting out there finally. I don't think he's been making knives that long at all- maybe a year or two? Very cool, thanks for the website link as well!

The axe must be a different model than the one on his site. The one on his site is more than double the above quoted price.

Very nice looking. Prices seem really good too. Anybody else familiar with this fella's work?

Wow, uh yeah maybe I should go back and pick it up. Maybe he decided to increase prices or something.

Hey there folks. I'm DJ Urbanovsky, the guy behind American Kami. :D

Thanks for the kind words. I'm glad you like my stuff.

Looks like I need to update my axe page. Got some new pieces done since that one. The axe you see in that pic is actually the prototype. The design has changed just a bit, and I'm doing a number of different styles now in addition to that one.

Beefangusbeef, I know exactly which store you were at. ;)

Thanks, Matteo.

beef: I'm workin' on it, I'm workin' on it! :D

Here's a pic of what one of the new style axes look like.

Keith: The reason for the price increase was because I wasn't making money on these. The handles on these things are made of 3 pieces of G10 - each .25" thick and 17" long. That's a whole lot of real thick G10, and the thick stuff is way expensive. I've also switched over to different fasteners insead of the hardware store specials that I had on the proto (way more expensive also, but better quality), and now all the handles come with the texturing which takes me forever. Making these axes is very labor intensive - takes me a lot longer than my knives.
