American Knife Co. Germany- steel ?

I've seen a few "American Knife Co. Germany - Sabre Solingen" knives lately, and was wondering if anyone knew what steel their blades were made from? Most I have found are fixed blade hunting knives, but I have seen folders also.

I searched the forum and didn't find much other than -- "there were many of these made-value would reflect that as it is a very common knife but nice." They were imported by Cole National Corporation from the 60's to the 80's from what I can find.
