American Lawman edge hits back spacer

I just picked up an old AUS-8 Lawman. Appreciate the older, thin hollow grind. Only problem is the edge slams into the back spacer. Maybe in more than one spot if the wear marks on the inside are to be believed.

Will a good sharpening take care of this? I paid very little for the knife, so I'm happy to do work on it.

It might, but depends if there is anything to stop the blade from dropping ever deeper into the handle. Might want to take one scale off and see what's going on.

I recently have had that issue with a Hold Out 2. Watched it happen with one handle off. The stop pin is bent backwards and doesn t stop the blade. I couldn't adjust it with a needle nose pliers.
This has been a work knife I ve used quite a bit in the past. I called Cold Steel cs and they said send it in for a repair. I ll probably send it next week or two. I m staying away from the lines at my local post office for now.

Guess I should have taken it apart before starting this thread. Turns out it's missing the closed stop pin all together! Will Cold Steel sell me one? If not I'm going to try to machine one at work.

They will probably want you to send it in for evaluation. Think the only part they will send out upon request is a pocket clip.

All the coating from the blade, lock bar and backspacer has been stripped, so unless they have an especially awesome warranty department I doubt they'd honor it. That's why I'd just like to buy it as a part, because I don't think they owe me warranty service to be honest.

I called them and asked if I could buy a new blade for one of my AUS8 versions.

I did a hack job and messed up the choil area like an idiot.

They told me to send it in and they would take care of it. Mailed it in and about a month later I got the knife back in the same condition.

I got the knife back which is good. I’m not sure how I feel about the customer service.

At any rate, Cold Steel makes great products and have managed to still be relatively reasonable with their prices.

I'm pretty sure we've got something I can find with a close enough diameter. Even if I have to press fit it. Just a matter of nailing the length. I don't think there are any other pins in the knife the same depth. Maybe the one that assists the lock spring. I'll dig deeper and report back.

I did send them an honest email about the situation asking the buy the pin.
