I am just trying to figure out if this is an American Naval Dirk. The card says that it was made in 1812. I found some information once on one similar but cannot find it again.

What do you think that it is worth?

Well, i thought that I could add images, but no joy! When i click on "add image" it is asking for a link rather than being able to drag and drop or upload. I don't know why i cannot upload an image.

iirc, this is shown in a book but I'm not at that desk. Tuite, Rankin, Gilkerson; one of those perhaps

Value is in the eye of the beholder and valuations are void here unless someone pays into the system.

Closer/better photos may be telling.

The timeline is about right, as earlier by a decade sees curved dirks. It may be as much as a couple of decades later (1830s) but it looks like nice work. Imo, authentic.

I'll get to the books. It looks familiar.

No joy in Tuite's book, aside from similarities and the timeline. A neat piece. Be aware that ivory can be an issue with transfers but there are exemptions that allow it.

Where would you go to sell something like this? This is not my forte!
