American Slider

Some time last year, there was a brief discussion on rec.knives on a new front-loading manual called the American Slider. I have a liking for OTF knives but autos are totally prohibited were I live. While I felt their promotion was shameless in the use of patriotic themes, the knife looked as though it might have some potential.
Anyone heard of it recently ?

Brian,

I don't know of the particular discussion your referring to, but what you've described sounds alot like ColdSteel's ER1, the remainder of a set of 3 OTF manual(button that slides pretty much from base to top of handle) 3" blade knives offered a while back.
I also think MineralMountainHatchetWorks(?) once advertised an OTF slider, but I'm not sure.

Thanks,
Ken

I know the knives you mention.
The AS was a new design and was promoted under that name. The company, I believe, went under the AS name, also. They had a website with graphics and a lot of hype with no technical info. The site was decorated like a presidential campaign.....red, white and blue and US flags.
It almost said : "never mind the quality, it's American".

Can't find the site, now.

It looks like the site is still there, and they've made some revisions. Here's an excerpt

Hmmm... Maybe they'd be willing to donate one for next month's knife give away!

Thanks Dakota

Seem to have toned down the site a bit. I will follow developments.
