Today, we were officially closed, but Justin and I worked on some back end stuff.
Anyway, around 11:00AM EST, the bell rings and upon answering the door, I'm greeted by two NYPD Intelligence Division Detectives who identify themselves immediately and ask for my wife Amy!
Upon showing their indentification, they asked to come inside and have a "word"...
Apparently, some whackjob was driving his White SUV over the George Washington Bridge last Monday, holding his arm out the window with a camera and capturing digital pictures of the Bridge and the Cross Bronx Expressway, and someone reported it to the authorities as suspicious!!! The "LBI" sticker on the vehicle, which stands for "Long Beach Island" was further reported as "LB" as in some kind of Libya symbol.
Well, I showed them my credentials, my camera, and the pictures I took as I was driving into NYC last Monday to see family, as I was making a photo scrapbook of the trip. Nevertheless, it was quickly determined that my actions were indeed NOT terrorist related, and we got down to the fun business of talking Tomahawks!!!
The Detectives stayed an extra 45 minutes handling all the models, asking how they were thrown, and what we could do for NYPD's ESU unit....showed them a few products on our drawing board, some testimonials from Soldiers in Afghanistan, and all was well. They left with catalogs and business cards. Despite how it came about that they visited, I am glad that our LEO's are taking all leads seriously and following them up. I thanked them for doing a great job. Our truck is registered in Amy's name...that's why they came lookin' for her!
One detective looked around at all the Spike Hawks and actually said, "you know, in my job, you NEVER know what you will come up against....you could have done us in right at the door with one of these if you wanted to". I smiled and said, "you're vest wouldn't have stopped me either!"
He laughed with that pale white laugh and moved onto the next topic.
...just thought this was an interesting one to share.
Have a GREAT holiday weekend!!!
