I just grabbed one of these recently and I am pleasantly surprised with the quality and fit and finish.

The edge came razor-sharp, and has what appears to be a hand-finished edge taken to about 1000 grit with an almost mirror-like finish. Definitely no belt marks or the usual tooling marks I was expecting. The grinds are even on both sides.

I have not had a chance to put it to any serious work yet, short of destroying a 2x4 with the spike. Sorry, no action shots.

The nylon handle - while not exactly slick - still needed a bit more "gription". I tried a few ranger bands, some skateboard tape, and finally settled on some paracord placed just right to offer a bit of palm swell in the sweet spot. Quite happy with the handle now.

The sheath is one of the best I have seen with any tomahawk or hatchet. Super secure, no rattle and lots of carry/lashing eyelets.

I am glad that Ryan has resurrected this brand. It certainly is worthy of having his name on it.

I will be picking up a model 2 now that I know how much I like the model 1.

The Model 1 is fantastic. I use mine for yard work and camping all the time. They are nearly indestructible and as you stated the quality is very good. The spike end is the multitool. I use the spike to split firewood. Lay the wood on its side and drive the spike in the lever the handle to one side and it splits. You cant process huge stuff with it but it works well on medium/small wood.

Two tools Inhave on every camping trip are my Model one and a Gerber E-tool. There isnt much I cant do with that combo.

I want to make a leather sheath for mine. Just haven't gotten around to it.
