Hey, guys I am looking to buy my first tomahawk. I don't have too much and have narrowed down to the SOG Tactical Tomahawk and the AT LaGana Vtac Tomahawk.

Can anyone give me any insight on these hawks? Are they reliable hawks? Which one is better for throwing? Are there any other suggestions for a tomahawk?

Also, as a quick side question which would be a better hawk for throwing, the SOG full sized Tomahawk or the smaller SOG Fasthawk?

All I will say is the SOG impressed me. It held and came with a nice edge. BUT.... just like anything, the coating will come off eventually.

From my understanding. The VTAC throws very well. If that is what you want to do with it. I have not heard if the SOG hawk is a good thrower or not. However, I do remember that sometime back the SOG hawk handles would shatter if you threw them too hard. Since that handle flaw was revealed by the customers. SOG changed the composition of the handles. The VTAC hawks were issued to the "First Stryker Brigade" in Iraq to be used as a breaching tool. So I assume that they are quite reliable. Of course they aren't nearly as "bomb proof" as a RMJ shrike. But no doubt, quite robust.

The VTAC is a very tought hawk and a great thrower. I actually have a half dozen to throw and have used
then for years...Try one you'll like it......
