I am new to the group. Does anyone know how to distinguish the difference between an original Peter LaGana tomahawk and the Cold Steel V90?

Well, what immediately comes to mind is that Cold Steel 'hawks are made in Taiwan. They are stamped "Taiwan." Lagana hawks are made in USA. Other than that, I believe the fit & finish is much better on the Lagana. Don't know if that's what you're looking for.

If the "Made in Taiwan" marking doesn't give it away, just weigh them.
The LaGana hawks (either vintage or 2000 reboot era) weigh about 1lb.

The Cold Steel versions are universally thicker grinds and weigh 18oz to 20oz, at least the ones that I have owned.

I have one of the wooden handled version from ATC/Brigade Quartermasters era with the Caracci-designed sheath - it feels like a lively weapon. The Cold Steel versions work and shaped similarly but very blunt and poorly ground.
