I've consulted yesteryear tools and a few other various repositories of axe & tool manufacturer history, yet I've come up empty in establishing anything resembling a timeline of sorts. I know the double marks of AmericanAx on one side and True Temper on the reverse likely indicates a specific period of production, but I either am not smart and/or diligent enough of a researcher to uncover when. Any contribution of knowledge or info is sincerely appreciated, thanks in advance from friends.

Kelly bought them in 1921 if I remember right, there is some stuff in old threads on here.Think op1975 said sometime in the 30s they used that stamp till.

I don't recall any evidence of a True Temper stamp on an axe before 1938.
Their 1938 catalog showed the True Temper stamp on axe heads, and one of the available True Temper axe brands in this catalog was Americanax.

By 1957, True Temper was no longer listing Americanax in their catalog.

So, I would narrow down the production year to somewhere between 1938-1957, perhaps closer to 1938 than to 1957.

Thanks for linking to the two past catalogues, they provide the ability to compare various examples, which helps me tremendously in narrowing down an approximate production timeframe.
