I just paid $22.00 for an America's Best Felling Axe. I've attached a picture of the stamp. I can't find out anything about this axe, its value, its quality. etc. I feel like its a good axe. Hard steel and the handle looks to be original. It is a very slender diamond profile handle, not your typical profile and it is somewhat ergonomic with a fairly large flair at the end...no pic of that yet, sorry.
Can anyone give me an idea when it was made, what sort of quality it is and about what it is worth? ballpark is fine, just not sure if I got a good deal or not.
I intend to sharpen and use the axe. It seems to be in good shape, other than the hammer blows to the back of the head as seen in the pics, and the handle is good, but looks very dry, like it was left in a damp place for a long time, then dired out and has lots of very fine checks in it. I figure I'll it till it breaks unless of course the thing is worth a million bucks with that handle.

Any advice would be nice on how to restore it and what I should do to the cutting edge to keep it sharp and rust free. I have some wet stones I use on my chisels I plan on using on it.
