I just picked this kitchen set up (it also has a fork handled the same) and I can't find any info on it. The seller said the steel is 302 SS. Does anyone have any info to share about the set? There's no other markings on the blade other than what you see.

I have heard and seen pics of them, but haven't held any. They look nice!

Overall impression with fit and finish?

Sorry, no information from me.

Not 302...420hc. probably not many set of them out in the field as Americraft really never sold them...

They seem to be just as nice as the other set (Empress Trio) that I have except that they are etched instead of stamped. I'm sure that I won't use them much. You don't need a nice set of knives to open a TV dinner carton! ;)

Thank you Mr. Hubbard. Was there a reason they didn't sell that you are aware of?

Plumber, I was just about to post what Mr. Hubbard did. Thanks for the info. correction. While displaying at a show a man approached me and discussed these knifes with me. I said I was not familiar with them . He then produced one from his pocket, which was the first I'd seen. Apparently, made in the early 90's. He even had a set with stag handles. I'd say your model 200 set is from mid to late 70's mfg.. I have that box which a 402 came in and its from that time frame. Thanks for posting that photo a great set of kitchen knives. Looking at them closer they could even be from 82 as they are fully hollow ground like the 4 dots. Try the 1990 catalog I think they're in that with different packaging. The stamp was changed from old English to block lettering about the time of the year dates. This model is somewhat of a mystery and hard to find information on and this is the first time I've seen them in this box. Larry, probably has this set in his collection. DM

Thank you David. Here's a scan of the paperwork that came with the Empress Trio. The set came complete with the cardboard sleeve so I assume that this is the correct paperwork. It leads me to believe that the set can be no older than 1991. Note the date given for the death of Al Buck.

The other set came with nothing. No box or paperwork, so I have nothing to go on there.

Hey, Dave thanks. I didn't think they were that new. That is something! I found in the 401/402 data which shows that box being used from 73 all the way to 97! I'll check more. DM

Ok, I just found a dealer on line with them (the Americraft set) listed, but not in stock. I see now where the seller got the 302 SS.

Dave, I found something. This set (model 200)was offered all the way to 93 but missing from the catalog after that and with that box. The Ameri-knives handles look just like the kitchen set offered thru Buck today. Same blade shape as well. DM

Nice knives Dave!! I bought that set from Bucks store about 3 years ago. Did yours come with the block also? Oh btw, they work great for TV dinner packaging ;-)
