Ames Hardness tester HELP!!!!

Hi guys,

I have a guy wanting to sell me one of two Ames hardness testers. I don't know which one I need for knives. According to the guy they both test C scale and both are complete units with test blocks, diamond penetrators, etc.

I've never been around Ames testers before and was hoping someone here could guide me in the right direction. Both are used or course, but at a price I can't refuse.

One has letters A B C on the dial. The other has Numbers.

From the pictures, which should I choose? Your help is greatly appreciated!
