I know this has been out for a while but I just picked one up from Bayou Lafourche and I really like this knife. Here's a mini review.

1. Blade: Nice shape and extremely and I mean extremely sharp. IMHO and based on my personal experiences, VG-10 takes the sharpest edge of any steel I know.

2. Handle: It is very comfortable and I fills my hand nicely.

3. Lock: I am always wary of linerlocks but this one feels really solid. There is NO blade play vertically or side to side. The liners have sharp edges which becomes a problem when playing with the knife and opening and closing it repeatedly. A little sandpaper will fix this though.

4. Clip: I like the deep carry clip. Its kind of bulky, but this knife is not meant to be a dress folder.

5. Fit and finish: Excellent, but not quite what the Sebenza is, but its only 1/3 the price.

Overall, this is an excellent value and I recommend it to anybody looking for a heavy duty folder.

Multiple people who own the knife posted comments on the thumb studs being too tall, and catching on the inside of the pocket, opening the knife prematurely when withdrawn. What's your take on that?

I have one and love it. Without a doubt the finest production folder made today. You can't beat this knife with a stick. Well you can and you won't break it! Put shrink tubing over the thumb studs works great to tone them down and makes for a better a grip when opening the knife. The liner lock is solid on this knife. I don't think you will find a better made or fitted production knife for the money. I have also run two very narrow strips of grip tape along the top of the handle on either side of the liners. You don't need much really just enough to keep your thumb in place and give it a bit of an extra purchase when cutting with the knife. This knife is very professionally made. It is on a par with custom liner locks I have seen and handled. The VG10 gets scary sharp too and stays that way for a good long while. I am even thinking of picking up another just to have as a spare. I haven't ever purchased 2 of any knife before either. Keep'em sharp

The only times the thumbstuds caught were when I was sitting and pulled my knife out of my pocket. If they were any shorter, the blade would be difficult to open.

The thumbstuds on my S2K were too long, so I filed the top tier off, and now they are just about perfect...still long enough to make opening easy, but short enough that they don't catch on the edge of my pocket anymore.

IMHO, the SERE 2000 is one of the finest production folders out there. The liner lock is as good, if not better, than some customs I've seen. It's a solid, heavy-duty performer.
