What do you guys think of microtech responding to customer concerns and sending the amphibian back to redesign? I think it was a gutsy move. They could have done OK with a me-too knife, but It looks like were going to get the bomb proof knife we hoped for, or at least the design will move back in that direction. Opinions?

I'm glad they're doing it. I thought it would be a really great knife at first, but then they took away the cool asymetrical thumb studs and added Krayton inserts, yech! I'm glad they're redesigning it.

What's the deal with that thing?? They run ads last year to get us all excited then it just seemed to disappear. I could have sworn when I first saw a print ad for the thing it said that it would have a titanium handle but now Microtech is showing on their website that it will have an aluminum handle that's hard coated....

I'll buy one if they go back to the plunge lock, not if it has a micro-bar.

Other than that I like the knife a lot.

It's nice to see a company respond to consumer requests.

I would personally like a thicker blade. 0.148" isn't bad, but for a knife of this valiber, I would definatley like something closer to 0.20"

Yes, it's great news. I've never anticipated a new knife more than the Amphibian. I just hate to have to wait even longer now. I hope that the redesign rocks even more than the original protos.:)
