Just saw Kristi posted on facebook that the annual Amsterdam Meet has been cancelled this year due to coronavirus. I'm sure she will be along to make an official post about it.

That's a real shame. Especially since the Coronavirus is such a ridiculous hoax of the mainstream media.
It's an exaggeration, a weapon of mass-misinformation.
The coronavirus has been around for decades it's listed as one of the viruses affected by Lysol. The supposed pandemic has been about as long as the current flu season. The coronavirus has affected 80,000 people and 3,000 people have died from it. However the influenza virus has affected 280,000 people and 16000 people have died from it. The flu season occurs every year.

Turn off your TV, they can't stop lying to us!

Before you comment what they should do...

We don’t know details, health condition of the team, and also health insurance constrains for trips abroad under such conditions. Not to mention risk of quarantaine, which some people (also travellers) experience now in Europe. I think whatever they decided it was seriously discussed, deeply evaluated all pro’s and con’s. Cancelation must have been a really hard decision to take. So if they decided - I assume it’s best for company, team and families of the team. So in the end I think also for us, Spyderco users & fans. They know what they do.

LOL! I assume you're joking. What is the incubation period of the flu? What % of people with the flu have serious symptoms and have to be hospitalized? Last I checked we had a flu vaccine. Sad that so many get easily manipulated by all the talk of "fake" news. Dangerous stuff...

I already pointed out the outbreak periods are the same. However the results are radically different.
WTF are you LOL'ing

It likely is a good, if difficult, call to make.

Even with the influenza being more lethal by percentage, Covid-19 is more virulent which is why despite mass quarantine it is still spreading. Even with a lower lethality rate than influenza, Covid-19 is capable of killing more people simply by infecting more people. Billions of dollars have been spent and millions of people have been quarantined trying to stop it from spreading and yet it persists. Another key difference with influenza and Covid-19 is that people who die of influenza are always in the extremities of age (very old or very young), immunocompromised (have a chronic condition that’s weakening their immune system), or develop a secondary infection that kills them. Covid-19 is killing otherwise healthy patients on its own. By next year protocols and treatments may be in place that make Covid-19 an unremarkable disease. But for now it’s a big deal and shouldn’t be treated lightly. Sorry Rush

It's 25x more deadly than the flu, there is no vaccine, and we are unsure of the incubation period. I was LOL'ing at your post because I thought you were kidding. Watch what's happening around the world (including in the US) and let's revisit this thread in a few weeks.

Flu can be deadly and COVID 19 can be deadly. The annual flu season should pass in a couple of months. For those that could be seriously affected we don’t want our medical systems to be dealing with both at the same time. If we can delay the transmission of the new virus for a few more months we could have a better outcome if any of us fall victim to either.

For most of us this is a fun hobby. I enjoy the posts that come from the Amsterdam show but until we know more this is probably the safer way to proceed.

Maybe we can still get some professional pictures direct from Spyderco without the “hands on” event?

Watching South Korean news is refreshing. They are coving the coronavirus in a way the US media should aspire to. Watching it offers insight that has helped me prepare. This virus is more deadly than the flu. I have family members with cancer, so precautions make sense.

Talk to individuals in America who have family in China. You may find this virus should be taken seriously. Take care

It all points back to China. If this was nothing short of the common flu, why on earth would China spend so much time, money and effort to try and contain this novel virus. Not to mention that the slimy little bugger still managed to get out.

Then again, I view all news (mostly mainstream, state run) reporting with a great deal of suspicion. They all have their agendas...
