Amy…

My gas range busted what should I get?

Blue Star ($3100) (18,000 BTU not the 22,000 BTU flame thrower)

DCS ($3500)

American Range ($3,000)

Or just melt the credit card and get a Wolf for $5,000

And what should I sell because it isn't going to be any of these :p

Sell the wine collection or get a cheaper stove. We really liked the GE profile dual fuel range, it has an electric convection oven (cook a potato in 40min,) and a gas cook top.

I can't do electric... I'd have to pull in a 220 line and install a new box.:grumpy:

Also the kitchen is kind of old school and a modern range would stick out like a sore thumb.

Anyway this is why you guys have not had to endure my posting for a while, I have been trying to finish off this hunt.:grumpy:

Knowing you as we do;) (which is really very little actually) from your posts, I couldn't see you with anything but the Wolf. I have installed them in 3 of the many kitchens I have built through the years, and they are incredible.

There's always a Viking. I put one in my new house.

Also... I can't remember which company has them... But I saw some "old school" style new stoves & refrigerators while shopping for my appliances that might look good in your kitchen... GE maybe? I really can't remember, but will reach out if my memory kicks in.

You mean you can tell that I beat the crap out of everyone and anyone for information before I’ll spend an extra buck?:p

Oldschool??? Drop in a chimney and get a woodburnin one. THAT'S old-school. Heck, the chimney would be less than what you'd pay for the ranges you are looking at. ;)

get the wolf! I have three of them at work, and they're amazing.

Wolf stopped making residential stoves back in 2000, they now license the name out to a sub-division of Sub-Zero. So unless you are putting a commercial Wolf in your kitchen, I'd go with one of the other three.

what could possibly be better than having a commercial range in your home? providing you have the room, of course. :D
residential ranges are never enough stove.

I would see how much headroom I had on the old Sears card and it would be Kenmore all the way!!! :D

Just get a Kenmore, mine is till going strong since I built my house 24 years ago.

I'm not sure about their stoves, but Sub-Zero make some of the very finest refrigeration appliances in existence. That is an interesting piece of info though, and goes a long way to explaining why we can't normally buy anything but commercial grade in Wolf appliances locally.

I have a Kitchen-Aid Gas Cooktop, they don't make my model anymore.

I'd trade it for a, oops, wrong forum :D

Tony,

You should drop VTW a line and ask him for a recommendation. Maybe he would cut (haha, I kill myself) you a deal on a hood/range combo.

Rick

My brother, who is a gourmet, has the Wolf. It is the one item in his restored Craftsman home that isn't period, but when I asked him he said he wouldn't have anything else! :D
