Hey everyone, I've been interested in getting an actual "Hard Use" Emerson review for quite a while.

Would there be any interest to get a Moderator or someone Bladeforum members would nominate to start a Paypal Drive to get an actual "Hard Use" review from the folks at http://www.physics.mun.ca/~sstamp/knives/reviews.html

I'd be in for $5-10, and I think we can muster enough interest to have one sent to him and get a review to settle some of the Liner Lock and Hard Use discussions.

If you're interested, reply to this thread, and lets try to get this started.

i would like to see a scientific review done comparing a EKI and a BM or spyderco of similar design/material/lock/etc and see how they stack up against each other.

say a CQC12 and a spyderco Ti ATR for example, that would be a good one.

i dont need the review though to convice me that EKI are good knives, i already know that. but it would be interesting.

doing just 1 knife with nothing to compare the results to doesnt prove anything though, does it??

Typically his reviews can be done to compare the knive to models of other brands. He'll compare initial sharpness, maybe cutting ability against another, etc.

I think we can work that out if we garner enough interest.

I'm an Emerson fan myself and would love to have an informative review done.

Bump up to to top.... for those that have recently expressed interest.

I've determined that once we can gain about 13 folks... at 10 bucks a pop... we can pick up a CQC-7 (a or b... whatever works), and get a decent review working.

Still waiting on MOD approval on this one, unless someone wants to step up. I'd do it myself, but I'll be relocating fairly soon, and don't want to keep people waiting

Count me in. I would recommend the cheapest emerson that you can get your hands on. Maybe someone was wanting to sell theirs here on this forum would like to sell the knife to us.

lowest priced one yes but ya couldnt use a used knife imho, not and get accurate results anyway.

it would already have wear/etc which could alter your results.
