It turns out that I am a HUGE Spyderco fan. Who knew?

It has taken me a long time to get over the 'ugliness factor'. (I don't meant to offend anyone, but these are generally not the sexiest knives in the world)

Once I really took an honest look at what I needed various knives for in different categories I began to find that in almost every category I need to fill, the best knife for the job is a Spyderco!!!

Large Tactical Folder: Spyderco Military S30V

Mid-Sized Concealable Fixed Blade: Spyderco Fred Perrin

Key Chain knife: Spyderco Jester

Smallish Utility EDC: Spyderco Carbon Fiber Delica

These things really grow on ya'!!!

Just thought I'd share.

Ugliness is in the eye of the beholder...
Personally I love them!

A Military as a large folder? Son, you ain't seen a large folder until you've seen the Camillus CUDA MAXX 5.5. That's a large folder, while the Military and the other fo;ders under 4.5" are middle-sized folders. :D :D

As an aside, there is a "large folder" thread wich Carlos nailed at the top. Good discussion, opinion, reasons, interest, etc. I'm seeking info to determine if Spyderco should go there

I try to keep an opened mind. We had no plans to make a neck knife or butterfly, but ELU demand prompted design and production.

Sal, as you may have noticed by now, :) there is large public out there which likes, if not loves, large* folders. I am getting somewhat impatient about the 7" CUDA MAXX that I ordered in July expecting what I understood was to have been October production on very limited run. I posted over in the General Forum that this sort of thing may be why you all are so reluctant to talk about specific new models until they are just about ready to ship. Anyway, I am very much interested in a 5+" Spyderco, as I said in Carlos' poll and in your question thread about large folders. Thank you for asking.

* Folders with at least a 5" blade

i agree; let's see a BIG folder, already!:D i know that Spyderco does not have an infinite supply of SKUs available, but dedicating one to a 5"+ folder just makes sense to me. heck, you could put me on the preorder list!

blastjv: i felt the same way about the Maxx. i thought it looked ridiculous. the more i read about it, and the more pictures i found, the more i became curious. my curiosity built to a fever-pitch, until i finally had[/] to pick one up. i bought the one with the Bowie blade, and its amazing. it is COMPLETELY useful! once you handle it for a day or so, it becomes natural; i no longer look at it as BIG, unless i really stop and think about it.
