We have a Hunt's 57 pound dog. You name it,you can see some of any breeds traits or appearance. Her main strain is Rhodesian Ridgeback & is very apparent when she is protective of us & her domain. A 4 inch swath runs from stem to stern.Anything moving is fair game & she is very agressive .
The most loving & intelligent dog in my lifetime too.She loves tugging games & destroying chew toys. When we give her a chew bone or a milk bone, she pitches it into the air & plays catch all over our large house.
Being Floridians, that presents a problem stepping on a hard object while barefoot. wE HOPE TO GET A CLUE ABOUT A BATTERY POWERED ANIMATED TOY TO KEEP HER OCCUPIED & NOT LAYING MINES & BOOBY TRAPS ALL OVER.
Oops, the old goat had a locked tab. Never said I was smart.

Any suggestions? Don't mind spending a few frivilous bucks .

Sounds like you are mostly looking for something indoors. But if you want something for outdoors and have a big enough yard, there is an automatic tennis ball launcher. I've never seen one in person and can't vouch for it's quality, but the dog videos look like they're enjoying it.

Tarsler, our need is indoors. We are wooded & when squirrels cross our yard they are pedal to the metal ! She has caught a Cardinal and been a half step behing those tree rats. Her greyhound genes show because she fence races the neighbor dogs every day & beats them handily in a hundred foot run. Our yard is rutted at the corners of the house from dirt-tracking turns.
She comes in tired but is still active & wants to play. I get tired of tugging on a wet sock ,towel or leaking chew toy .

hmmm, toy to keep very fast very active dog busy...

Laser pointers are always fun, but the critter may get frustrated never being able to actually catch and toss it. Sometimes running the light around and then dwelling on a toy to give some tooth feedback, then running randomly after the nesxt toss, then dwelling on the toy again. Less strenuous for the human than the sock.

Laser pointer on a wind chime... will make random patterns for the mutt to chase.

disco ball? Lots of lights to chase..........

Speaking of the sock. If your end of the sock is tied to something behind you so that you are not having to create all the force, just moving it around somewhat for interrest and interraction, less tiring, and you never lose....

grommit ... pay attention, you took money from forumites that have never received their pocketwrenches. please advise before being banned.
