Well, I've gone gold. And now choosing an avatar seems to present me with issues. When I see many people here, I associate them heavily with the avatar. Hence, I know it will become a part of my identity.

I've temporarily settled on the one you now see. It's one my favorite photos, and a sort of visual credo, if you will, for what I strive to be. A fusion of old and new. Nobility, strength, and progress. The proverbial knight in shining armor for the modern world. With a supermodel on my motorcycle. I mean... :o You know how it goes. :D

But note that I say it is probably "temporary." Might have to change things up every now and then. :) For now, here it is!

The best avatars have a meaning behind them, Nam. Some of them have a lot of meanings. That's sort of the fun of it.

I agree. We are all very different. We have our own views of who we are. What is important to us.

Personally, have trouble taking it all seriously. Age perhaps?

Tried to capture my essence with a cartoon.:D

After much mucking around, have to concede, twill do..

PS..Look in the mirror.

Iron man on an iron horse with a nubile wench. Right on! If you get another avatar, let me have this one. Ummh, got her phone number? Shhhh.

believe me, id change mine every week if i could.
i got grandfathered in when they changed the system last year, otherwise Id have a damned jumping badger, the troll's favorite avatar.

I'm glad you cleared that up....was sort of hoping you were the one on the back of course, but...

Once I contribute, my avatar will be the Eagle, Globe, and Anchor of the USMC.

I've considered changing mine, but I realize that we do associate the avatar with the person. Like a brand name. I don't want to lose my brand name appeal:rolleyes: ;) :D

ooo:) A V-rod isn't it? That'll be my next bike. Congrats, Chris:)! Welcome to the club. Please see Nasty for the cerimonial blood-letting. What? Didn't they tell you about that? No? Aw, man that sucks. I hear at platinum you have to get your nipple pierced. I don't even want to know what they do to the mods.

Well, let's just say it involves a tower, a cinderblock, a cord about 40 ft long and their um, parts? They are a tough bunch:eek: ;)

(note: I didn't mean to infer that they've had their parts removed, rather just tested for toughness:D )

Yea and we're forced to stand there with the rig attached for 48 hours.
At the end of the trial we can literally pee up a rope. :p

Yvsa, did I ever tell you what happened to me at hour 46 of the mod initiation? A pretty girl came by and I lifted that cinder block up about a foot. Then Cougar frowned and tied on 2 more cinder blocks.

:(

Proof that the first liar never has a chance.;) :o :D

The more I look at it, the less I think it needs changing. Yeah, that's a good avatar indeed. That'll do.

My god, I have new respect for the mods. Yvsa, I think this might explain some of your previous back problems. Maybe you should have told the docs this to help with the medical history? And explain some other things they might have noticed during the procedure. ;) :D

Slight thread twist.
That avatar looks very unsafe.

When 60yrs is behind you. Some things you cannot do!
Remembering is one thing that works!

namaarie, you be careful on that motorcycle.

When I was a youngster of 53 - or so - I met this Croatian lass
who seemed quite keen. English? = Passable. Beauty? = unquestionable!
Immensely flattered by her insistence on a long ride as pillion
with me. We set off.
I suggested she grip my lower jacket belt - nice!
Faster we rode, better the grip!

Talk about an enabler...

After a fuel/food stop, was instructed to "sit up there"

On reflection, maybe I should not have fled!
