Guys
I haven't been making knives really long(2 years) and am kinda young,(almost 16) but if you want some awesome handle wood, write back. It is osage orange,(also known as Bois d'arc, hedge, hedgeapple, iron wood) The stuff i have has been cured for around a hundred years. This stuff is hard! and really pretty when sanded and oiled. I could sell good size chunks of it for a very resonable price!
By the way, what i mean by being cured for a hundred years. These were used as fence posts long ago at the start of the 20th century. The outside looks like weather bark but on the inside there is alot of beautiful wood. if you are interested, let me know

I might be interested if I didn't have a huge hedge tree in my front yard. You're right though, it's some tough stuff and hard as hell on tools. Around this part of the country it was planted in rows and used for field fences/boundries.

I have a friend that slabs out hedge from his property. That is some tough stuff.Does yours have a yellow tinge to it lukers?I have always thought it would make good handles on a using knife.
