This is a very good video that has been put up on YouTube recently. It is made by the US Department of Agriculture Forest Service and is designed to go along with their e-book with the same title. It has some great information about axes. You can see the video here.

i watched both the vids last night, really enjoyed them. been wanting to see these for years. thanks for posting the link

enjoyable to watch and entertaining but as he says here and there in the video, In my opinion I would do a few things a little differently hanging an axe.

and the metal wedges expand the handle the other way from the wooden wedge to make it fit even tighter, that is why they have been using them for a long time.

Watched them back to back last night and enjoyed them immensely. I like how he referenced "those Swedish" axes... Thank you for the post.

Anyone have a Kelly Perfect Jersey Pattern they want to sell?

If you shop around, you might get lucky. Last week I got a similar Flint Edge from an online antiques dealer who advertised it as being a good doorstop.
It weighs 3 lb. 2 oz. and is not banged up at all. (I'm not selling it, by the way.)

I stumbled into this area of the forum when I got an old axe to restore. I am really pumped about them now and soaking up all the old axe info I can. In my travels I am going to stop by the antique shops and pick up nice heads when I can. So far I picked up an axe for $5 that needs properly hung on it's handle.

I have a road trip coming up and plan to stop as at several shops along the way. If I find extra's I'll share.
