  • Today marks the 24th anniversary of 9/11. I pray that this nation does not forget the loss of lives from this horrible event. Yesterday conservative commentator Charlie Kirk was murdered, and I worry about what is to come. Please love one another and your family in these trying times - Spark

Over the 26 years since the U.S. Forest Service (my employer) had me make this training video it has been shown by many people, many different sites on the internet ( I have never posted any of the training videos that I was directed to make). I see a lot of comments posted about some thing the viewer has seen and feels that they need to comment on. Everybody has a right to their own opinion. BUT, one comment gets to me. That comment is about when I throw the oily rag over my shoulder in a corner on the floor and keep on working on the hang. So, let it be known that while the camera was running, and I had just said to be careful with oily rags, and then throw the rag- I WAS SCREWING WITH THE CAMERMAN WHO WAS A FRIEND. I had no idea that the producer would leave that in the final cut of the video. Like I have said before, when you work on camera or write something that is published, you have very little control over the final product. Only the producer or the editor have final control. So the advise I now give is- do nothing when the camera is running that you do not want in the finished video, or write nothing that you do not want to see in print.

'An Axe to Grind' was one of the first, and best, resources I found when I picked up the hobby years ago. I just rewatched the first half, and I'm still learning from it. Thanks so much for that.
