An axe for my dad.

My dad was looking through an outdoorsman catalog of mine and the Kommer Bush Pilot Survival Hatchet caught his eye.Before I buy it for him I want to know if it's a solid axe or not?It will be used for light camping and yard work,stuff like that.:thumbup: :thumbdn:

That looks like flat stock with a short bevel, fine for rough sods and the like, especially with that grip. For actual wood work try Gransfors Bruks or Wetterling.

the Gransfor Bruks are a beauty... like the Hunter model, small enough for most packs, yet heavy enough to do the job. stay away from "Mini Hatchets/axes", they are often too light and small in the hand for any practical use except pounding tent stakes. good luck...
