An Axis, an MOD and some Microtechs, help me decide.

I have got the chance to obtain the following pieces:

Benchmade Axis 710bt $110
Microtech SOCOM tanto $130
Microtech SOCOM clip $130
MOD Hornet $110

Which should I go for?

If you want a big knife, get the BM 710, the blade shape is more useful than the Tanto SOCOM and it is a very smooth knife. If you want a smaller knife, get the Hornet.

If it was me, I'd go for the BM 710. It's a great overall knife, and IMHO one of the most elegant designs out there. The Axis also appears to have made a big hit as far as a hard-use lock system.

Other than that, I'd do the MT Socom, or better, the Socom Elite, if you can get hold of one.

Good luck!

I'd be inclined to go for either the 710 or the SOCOM clip. Both are real winners in my book.

Go for the 710. I have one, and its my favorite EDC. The others are nice too, but lack the axis lock.

Me fail english? That's unpossible!

Definitely go with BM 710!!!
You can be heavily disappointed with MT SOCOM handling comfort in hard use. And so called "tanto" blades (nothing to do with traditional Japanese tanto knives) usually display poor performance at daily cutting tasks.

I think all are excellent knives, but I would go for the 710 first. The SOCOM's are great knives, and I have had approximatly 5 of em' since I started collecting, but I like the 710 more. The MOD is nice as well, but the 710 os the winner IMHO.

Go for the Microtechs. Next would be the Hornet, then the 710.
Good Luck,
Matt

I'd go for the Socom clip point.
Btw, i've got a Hornet for sale at 800 spänn...

The 710 is good too, smooth and a really good lock...

For a little bit more you can get a 710hs. M2 beats 154CM any day, and no liner lock compares to an Axis. And I definitely prefer the 710's G-10 scales to MT's Al handles.

If you're set on an MT, the Socom Elite has a better lock & more ergonomic handle than the regular Socom.

But get the 710, everybody needs an Axis lock!

So, I decided to get the Axis. I am not disappointed

The Axis is so smooth, and still rock solid, not to mention its sexy appearance. At first I was a bit hesitating, but after playing with it for a while I got kind of lovestruck

. Now I just have to start thinning out the edge, as it is way to thick. Thanks for your help, guys.
