It was early Monday morning, and the postman banged out quite a racket on the front door! In my bathrobe and slippers, and sipping my first cuppa, I was perusing the bad news, and grumbled to myself, "what the heck is that?"
I threw open the door, and what to my wondering eyes did appear, said postie, shivering in the frosty morning, in a jacket, gloves and cargo shorts!!
"You are pretty optimistic" I said!
Well the sun was trying to peek through the icy mist!
G'mornin" the man said, and "sign here please"!!
I scribbled, wished him a warm day, and he handed me a brightly colored box, securely taped with silvery duct tape, with ominously Christmas-ey colors glowing from the front and back!
Ho ho I thought! A UK return address!!
Can only mean one sender - "Santa Black"!!

Hustling over to my pants (no knife in my robe! what was I thinking??) I yanked out my carry of the last week, a stag Willamette from our buddy Derrick!
Behold, our first Christmas greeting card of the season!

And many other objects of interest from Senore Black's famous kitchen table!

What I find magical is that I've never mentioned stamp collecting(being the the province of ultra nerds) and he's sent me this very cool Cap'n Cook commemorative first issue from 1968.
I also suggest to any one feeling unhappy to watch a bit of Tommy Cooper-laughter guaranteed.
Cheers Saint Jackalous:D

Thanks guys, I'm glad the packages made it :) The tape measure is a Barlow Charlie! :D

Nice! What is the location in the painting on the post card?

...has the traditional forum ever done a secret santa?

Saint Jack always makes me smile!!! I just have to look all over my house and Jack is everywhere:D Some beautiful pieces, Charlie! Those particular cork screws look dangerous:D

The painting is a watercolour by G.Nicholson, a scene from Sheffield in 1833, showing the Vulcan Dam and Ellin Street.

Not that I know of, but there are certainly more than a few secret santas among our members :) I've certainly been the recipient of some incredible generosity here :)

Thanks Gev :) Those are actually brewer's gimlets

Ah...now I have gimlet eyes for such things;):D Thanks, Jack

St. Jackolas strikes again! Congrats on your gifts Charlie. Tis the season.

Hanukkah Harry Jack was here, as well. :D

Thanks for answering the questions, Jack!
The tape measure was made by a Barlow-named company. I will post a picture of the "BARLOW" stamp on the bottom of it by and by.

You are a prince, Mr. Black.

Thanks for saying Christmas Charlie.

A couple more packages gone out today ;)
