Today my wife dragged me to an estate sale she'd already been to three times because starting today everything was half off. I was bored out of my mind... but still managed to find something to spend a little money on.

The larger piece is a pen holder made of walrus ivory. It measures 4 x 2.5, and weighs in at nearly half a pound. The smaller piece appears to be fossil walrus ivory, and it weighs about an ounce. I paid $30 for the lot. They also had a bag with some ivory scrap pieces, but I left it behind as none were usable for anything.

very cool, If the small pieces were inexpensive I would have grabbed them too I remember someone made a cool handle out of small pieces + epoxy for a mosaic kinda look. Chris

Hell you could have your pins recessed and cover them with ivory plugs and make it look like ivory pins or something.

Pieces this size are more suited for use as scales, bolsters, guards or the like. I don't have any immediate plans for them, besides adding them to my supplies drawer for when the right project comes along.
