Hello ladies and gentlemen (mostly gentlemen), here's the simple idea that I will start making on August when i get back from my trip to get the materials for it (will leave here on end of july),

Get the good old bk 11 handles:

Add a 3/8 x 3 inches magnesium bar:

With a 3/8 x 3 firesteel:

Get a stainless steel bar (440A will do just fine) at 0.375(3/8) nd do something like this(sorry My drawing skill are really low):

The 2 black line coming from the handle are screws machineted from the bar that will support the handles.

So What you guys think shoul i even try to make this and any tips on this matter would be nice.

That's actually kinda cool! I dunno how functional it would be...but it's still damn cool!

If the pins into the steel and magbar were epoxied in very well, and perhaps epoxy the 'steel and the magbar together as well...would be a neat one-of-a-kind piece of kit!

Never mind, I miss understood the illustration. I can see how I would not have passed engineering class. :o

The idead is that the 2 pins would be screws, and both the mag and firesteel would have drills to fit.

I think he means just using the BK11 SCALES on a piece of flat stock cut to shape... not the BK11 HANDLE. Or at least that's what I hope he means. I would NOT cut an 11 in half to make a firesteel LOL but that's just me.

Yes please i would only use the micarta handles not the bk-11 thats god steel.

Thats why i said i need to find some steel 0.375 thick and machine it to fit the handles.

Now "I see said the blind man. . ." You know, that sure would be an interesting piece of fire starting tool were it come to fruition.

Make a one piece wood handle in the BK11 scale shape and epoxy the fire steel into it. Can't help it I'm a wood guy :D

this is what I was thinking, would probably be easier to work with as well. you could recess the firesteel and magnesium into the wood a tad for a bit of extra rigidity as well.

Ethan's firesteel. :D

Good idea though.

Right now i'm thinking of switching the micarta scales for something like horn.

MOOSEZ HORNS....

Just kidding...

Made me crack right up.

you don't like Ipe

ha.ha.ha.

Droll Tommy, very droll! LOL

That would be cool as a keychain, without the firesteel or hole drilled in it...just a Becker keychain!

it WOULD look better in cocobola, bocote or desert ironwood LOL!

The keychains will have a copper inlay
